ASUS Republic of Gamers Rampage III Extreme motherboard has been the subject of discussion among enthusiasts for months. The board is especially designed as the solution for ultimate overclocking scenarios, with features that allow the voltages and frequencies of the CPU and memory to be easily modified and checked. Now that the hype surrounding it has risen to peak levels, the mainboard has finally been officially introduced by its maker.

The ROG Rampage III Extreme supports Intel LGA 1366 central processing units and targets the most hard-core of overclockers. It comes with seven SATA 3.0Gbps ports, two SATA 6.0Gbps connectors, four PCI Express x16 slots, six DDR3-2200 memory slots and an eSATA connector. Three-way SLI and CrossFireX setups are fully supported. In addition, the motherboard features 7.1 channel audio, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire connectivity and even boasts two USB 3.0 ports. An NVIDIA NF200 chip makes sure that the PCI Express slots operate properly.

In order to ensure that the motherboard has excellent heat dissipation, ASUS implemented the Extreme Engine Digi+ voltage modulation technology, which stabilizes power and improves heat dissipation. There is even a large cooling system that covers the PWM area, the ICH10R southbridge, the aforementioned NF200 chip and the X58 northbridge.

In addition to all the basic and advanced technologies, this particular motherboard from ASUS has a certain capability that sets it apart from all others, namely the ROG Connect and RC Bluetooth technologies. These two give users “the freedom to unchain true hardware potential” by enabling overclocking via a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone.

“Drawing inspiration from everything that makes overclocking such a great pastime, R3E takes it to the next level. It’s a dream come true, empowering the art of hardware tinkering like never before. With a thermal design revamped from the ground up, overclocking tools to keep a gearhead happy ad infinitum, gorgeous looks and performance that’s frankly out of this world, the Rampage III Extreme is the only choice for those looking to make every MHz count,” the press release states.

Unfortunately, the motherboard maker did not announce the price, although it should be of at least 250 Euro.
