Sometimes, a product takes more time than one would expect to be finalized, and this seems to be the case with a certain ASUS professional monitor which, though revealed last year, will only come out months from now.

The ASUS ProArt Series PA246Q monitor is one of those devices that its maker announced a long time ago but still hasn't gotten around to releasing yet.

The first time it got officially revealed was in Spring, 2010, meaning that almost a full year has passed and still sales have not commenced.

On the other hand, ASUS may very well have very good justification for taking so long, considering the target user base and extra assets of the monitor.

Simply put, the monitor, instead of being meant for consumers, is built for designers and photographers, among other sorts of professionals.

That said, it has a diagonal length of 24 inches and a P-IPS panel whose native resolution is, unlike what one would expect, 1,920 x 1,200 pixels (not 1,920 x 1,080).

A mention should be made of the monitor's ability to cover 98% of the Adobe RGB color range, as well as for the brightness of 400 cd/m2.

What's more, ASUS gave it a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000:1 and a response time of 6ms G2G (gray to gray).

As far as connectivity goes, a D-Sub port is present, along with a DVI and DisplayPort connector, plus an HDMI input.

No doubt interested professionals will eagerly take advantage of the special stand, which enables swivel, tilt, pivot and height adjustment.

Finally, for managing files even in absence of a PC, ASUS threw a 7-in-1 card reader into the mix, along with USB ports.

The latest re-introduction was done through an official video and sales are expected to commence in March. The price, of course, is still a mystery.
