One of the most anticipated releases this autumn will be Intel's P55 platform, accompanied by the chip maker's new line of Core i5 processors. However, for those who are fans of the Sunnyvale, California-based chip maker, Taiwanese manufacturer ASUSTeK is said to be preparing the launch of a new AMD 790X and SB750-based motherboard, which will provide users with support for AMD's latest Phenom II and Athlon II processors, combined with the latest dual-channel DDR3 memory modules.

According to the specifications of the upcoming board, which have just surfaced on the Internet, users will be able to take advantage of an 8+2 phase power design, with support for AMD's latest desktop processors. The board comes with four DDR3-1800 DIMMs, featuring support for dual-channel DDR3 memory configurations, two PCI-Express x16 slots, with support for CrossFireX multi-GPU setups and seven SATA 3.0Gbps ports.

In addition, there's also the ASUS Express Gate instant-on operating system, EPU and the TurboV one-touch overclocking technology. The board has also been equipped with one eSATA port, a 7.1 channel audio solution, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire connection and a silent cooling solution for the on-board chipsets. The upcoming AM3-supporting platform from ASUS will provide users with a product that can deliver performance in a relatively affordable package, taking advantage of the latest AMD components, including processor and graphics.

Unfortunately, as with all unofficial products, we are yet to know anything about the price tag of the M4A79XTD EVO. However, according to available details, users should have a chance at acquiring one later this month. The platform should deliver support for a number of computer systems, including gaming rigs or multimedia PCs. Thanks to its overall specifications, the upcoming board should be equally suitable as an overclocking platform for AMD processors and graphics cards.
