The ASUS P565 is one mobile phone that seems determined to show that rumors can sometimes be false, as the handset appears to have been available for purchase for quite some time now, despite reports that the manufacturer took it off the shelves back in February. A Polish site, ASUSPDA, is reported to have had a hands-on experience with the GPS / PDA phone, and it states that the device has been on sale for the past several months.

It seems that the phone is a rather attractive one, and that the pictures available with it are legit, which means that it is real. Not only that, but it is said to offer a high level of performance, not to mention the nice-looking design, though there are some things that do not go as well as one would expect from a device sporting an 816MHz processor.

The specification list of the ASUS P565 shows that it comes with a 2.8-inch TFT display that can provide a 480 x 640 pixel resolution, as well as support for 65,000 colors, and a 3-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video recording capabilities. Besides the Marvel Tavor 800 MHz processor, the phone also includes a 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM, and sports Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional as its operating system.

The connectivity features of the handset include WLAN 802.11 b+g, USB and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, as well as HSDPA 3.6Mbps, UMTS 2100, EDGE/GPRS/GSM 900/1800/1900 connectivity. The phone also sports a 1300mAh lithium battery that can offer up to 6 hours of talk time and up to 250 hours of standby time when it comes to 2G networks, as well as up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 200 hours of standby time when on 3G networks.

The feature list of the phone includes business application messaging capabilities, audio and video players, and support for JAVA. The ASUS P565 is available for purchase on Qbit, where it sports a price tag of $566.
