Though it has yet to actually bring it out, ASUS has given a sort of update on the Lamborghini VX6, a mobile PC which loosely fits into the netbook category, even though it has a larger screen size and distinctly superior specifications compared to its so-called peers.

Most of the netbooks unveiled so far have been based on the Intel Pine Trail platform and settled for basic computing capabilities, with some models managing a decent multimedia performance as well.

ASUS' Lamborghini VX6 is, more or less, similar to them in these regards, but its performance level clearly exceeds theirs, or will do so once the device actually debuts.

So far, there has been a screen size limit on all entry-level mobile PC, namely 10.1 inches, but the PC maker was able to bypass this so-called limitation and go for a wider display, of 12.1 inches to be exact.

ASUS also provided a screen with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, better than the 1,024 x 600 that most other have, and enough for enjoyment of HD videos.

The main factor behind the performance is the dual-core central processing unit (CPU) known as Intel Atom D525, whose clock speed is of 1.83 GHz.

This CPU is backed up by no less than 4GB of DDR3, but the real asset, that which truly gives the product its multimedia support, is the NVIDIA ION 2 GPU.

Together, these allow consumers to enjoy any video and other multimedia that may require advanced graphics.

As for connectivity and I/O, the company spared no expense and threw in not just the predictable Ethernet, WiFi and Bluetooth (3.0), but also USB 3.0.

The PC maker has now posted the device's manual, which may suggest that the actual launch date of the mobile computer is drawing near. When it finally starts selling, end-users will have to part with $699, should they wish to acquire it.
