The rumors about this possibility might turn out to be more than rumors

Late last month, a rumor arose on the technology market, about the possibility of ASUS and Acer merging into a single company. Now, I hear that this might actually happen.

In fact, it will probably depend on Acer, since ASUS, apparently, is actually open to the idea.

Chairman Jonney Shih said that ASUS was willing to enact such a merger.

Meanwhile, Acer has dismissed the rumors, saying that it has neither been approached for something of the sort, nor does it intend to make such overtures itself. That include from or to other companies or investment banks.

International investment banks are credited for the rumor. In fact, initially, it was about Lenovo or ASUS acquiring Acer.

I have to agree, though, that ASUS and Acer coming together would do a lot of harm to both, since they have too many overlapping businesses. They also have no stake on the enterprise front, and don't really need each other to advance on the consumer segment.

In other words, it's far from a match made in Heaven.
