ASUS has recently announced two new portable computer systems, designed specifically to meet the requirements of high-definition mobile enthusiasts. The company's new F50 and F70 range of notebooks has been featured with 16-inch and 17-inch displays, offering a high-quality visual experience with the help of some highly-capable graphics solutions. With the announcement, the company has debuted three new models, namely the F50GX, F50Z and the F70SL.

The two F50 models have been configured to provide users with a number of features that combined can provide both performance but also an affordable alternative to similar laptops on the market. While the F50GX takes advantage of an Intel processors and NVIDIA graphics combo, the F50Z has been featured with an AMD chipset, offering support for a number of new AMD processors. The F70SL has a rather interesting configuration, as it has been based on an SiS 671 DX and SiS 968 chipset combo, offering support for Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium, Celeron Dual-Core and Celeron processors.

Both F50 models are capable of providing as much as 4GB of DDR2 memory and a maximum storage capacity of 500GB on a 2.5-inch hard drive, and have been featured with integrated WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, on-board Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, optical drive, 1.3MP webcamera and a Windows Vista operating system. They can provide either a 15.6-inch display, or a larger 16-inch screen, both of which are a capable of delivering 16:9 HD resolutions. The difference between the F50GX and the F50Z is that the former is built to support a range of Intel processors, while the latter is designed to take advantage of AMD's own portable PC CPUs. In addition, the F50GX is featured with an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G chipset, while the F50Z is built on AMD's 780G.

The last of the three new ASUS laptops is a real power horse, offering support for up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, and a dual HDD solution for up to 1TB of storage space. Users will also be able to benefit from a built-in optical drive, a 1.3MP camera, integrated WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, on-board Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth and a Windows Vista operating system. The SiS-based system is powered by an 8-cell battery and can support a range of Intel's mobile processors.
