ASUS, one of the world's leading vendors of low-power, netbook systems, is said to be planning the release of yet another NVIDIA Ion-based system, which will be part of the company's expansive line of Eee PC netbooks. The ION-infused Eee PC 1201n model has recently surfaced on the website of an Asian e-tailer, which could mean that the Taiwanese company is getting closer to unveiling the product for its customers overseas.

Said netbook had already surfaced on the Internet, thanks to the details on the company's Eee PC roadmap, which were made available in late August. The 12.1-inch machine could be launched alongside a couple of new variants to the company's Eee PC 1005HA slimline netbooks, which will provide customers with a choice for an ultraportable Windows 7-enabled PC system.

Unlike the majority of Eee PC systems, or the majority of netbooks that have been launched so far, the new 1201n model will provide customers with a larger, 12-inch display, which puts it somewhere between netbooks and ultraportable, CULV-based laptops. The system is expected to pair an Intel Atom N270 processor with NVIDIA's ION 9400 graphics chipset and 2GB of RAM. In addition, the larger display offers support for a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels, while storage has been pumped up to 250GB, on a low-power 5,400RPM hard drive. Other than that, the netbook offers the usual array of connectivity options and interfaces.

Expected to be officially announced this autumn, the Eee PC 1201n will run on Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, which could mean that it might be launched sometime around the release date of the much-anticipated OS. Unfortunately, we have no details on the system's pricing and availability, at this time, but the netbook is likely to be launched soon.
