As some of you might remember, ASUS' HD 6990 was one of the few new dual-GPU Radeons to be leaked online prior of the official announcement, and now, the company has swiftly rectified this issue by going official with their new graphics card implementation as well.

However, don't expect any major surprises from Asus as far as their current implementation of the dual-GPU AMD Radeon HD 6990 is concerned, since, similar to most other card manufacturers we've come across thus far, Asus has also decided to only apply a couple of minor tweaks to the Antilles-based card.

So, while the card still provides 4GB of GDDR5 video memory, clocked at 1250MHz, it also grants users access to the Voltage Tweak overclocking utility, that enables them to push the card's native 830 Mhz core frequency up to 1245 MHz with adequate cooling (although it's not exactly clear whether this feature is applicable in BIOS 1 or BIOS 2 – we tend to believe that we're talking about the second case, though).

Additional features worth mentioning in direct relation with the new Asus card include the instant quad CrossFireX support, as well as the AMD Eyefinity multi-screen technology, not to mention the AMD HD3D technology, that allows users to enjoy a comprehensive 3D experience on any supported monitor.

As we sort of expected, based on prior experiences, Asus has refrained from providing any specific pricing details for their new dual-GPU Radeon graphics card, but, going back to the previously-mentioned leak, it's safe to say that it will also sell for somewhere in the vicinity of 700 Euro or so.

As a conclusion, we certainly hope that ASUS will also release a “spiced-up” model of the new card, featuring more of their own DNA and advanced overclocking technologies, since we all know that they've got plenty of experience in this particular area.
