Since the liquid crystal display market is getting more and more lucrative, companies are starting to seriously consider their performance in this area, and ASUS hopes to become one of the top ten suppliers by the end of the year.

Those that have been keeping track of such things will know that the global LCD monitor market is on a steady rise.

Granted, Europe did go through a mostly weak period, with demand having gradually declined over the course of 2010.

Meanwhile, the US and Asian markets stood flat and showed growth, respectively.

Now, it seems that ASUS is gambling on what is left of the month of December and hopes that sales of liquid crystal displays will jump enough for its status on the market to rise.

The outfit got top position in Taiwan as LCD monitor maker, with a share of 28%, after selling 500,000 units.

As far as the whole world goes, however, the outfit expects to deliver roughly 3.7 million units by the end of the year, which means a share of 2.5%.

According to a recent report made by Digitimes, ASUS intends to rank amongst the top ten worldwide suppliers of LCD monitors for 2010.

Additionally, the same company hopes to see its sales increase over the course of 2011, to about 4.5 million units.

This would leave it with what is currently estimated at a 3% share of the total market segment.

ASUS will leverage the fact that it was among the first to release 3D monitors and believes that another major part of its success will be the market in Europe, which is expected to start recovering.

In related news, the PC and consumer electronics maker also plans to enter the front projector market in the second half of next year.

It will focus on DLP technology and use LED lighting for making products capable of forming images from distances of two meters and with a 100-200 lumens brightness.
