ASUS, one of the world's leading vendors of computer motherboards, has recently updated its line of X58-based motherboards with the introduction of the new P6T7 WS SuperComputer model, specifically designed to deliver the necessary performance required by today's high-end desktop workstations. Coming with support for Intel's fastest processors to date and multi-GPU configurations, the new SuperComputer motherboard from ASUS offers an impressive 7 PCI-Express 2.0 expansion slots.

The naming scheme of ASUS' new board might get a bit confusing, especially since ASRock has already launched its own X58-based Supercomputer board. However, ASUS' new board takes things a bit further, with the help of two NVIDIA NF200 chips, which enable the board to provide seven PCI-Express gen.2 expansion slots, with support for NVIDIA GeForce 3-way SLI or ATI's Quad CrossFireX technologies. In addition, the board offers support for Intel’s Xeon E5502, E5504 and E5506 workstation processor and up to 24GB of DDR3 memory, using the three Triple channel-ready DIMMs.

Designed to support the performance requirements of today's high-end desktop workstations, the new board is featured with Intel's ICH10R controller, which offers support for 6 SATA 3GB/s devices with RAID 0,1, 5, 10 support. In addition, the Marvell 88SE6121 SATA controller offers two eSATA ports, while the Marvell 88SE6320 SAS controller enables two SAS ports. The board's backpanel sports two External SATA ports, one S/PDIF out, one IEEE 1394a, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 ports, 8-channel Audio and one PS/2 port.

In addition to the high-performance specifications and support, the new P6T7 WS SuperComputer board from ASUS is packed with some of the company's own features, including Express Gate, EPU, CrassFree Bios 3, EZ Flash 2, O.C. Profile and more. Unfortunately, ASUS hasn't detailed the board's availability and pricing.
