While everybody is waiting for the first NVIDIA Ion-based device to make a debut, ASUS and AMD are preparing something different. The device in question is part of ASUS’ large family of Eee netbooks, nettops and all-in-one computer systems and combines the processing power of an Intel Atom processor with the graphics performance of an ATI HD 4000-series graphics chip. The system itself comes in the form of a new EeeBox nettop, which has recently made a brief appearance on the company's website.

The system is featured with a dual-core Atom 330 processor that has surprisingly been combined with an ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics chip, featuring a total of 256MB of DDR2 memory. Aside from that, the EeeBox PC B208 is shipped with the user's choice for a Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Business. It comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory, a high-capacity 320GB SATA II hard drive, with an additional 10GB of Eee Storage, an integrated card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, one HDMI port, Bluetooth, a remote control and a built-in battery that acts as a U.P.S.

The EeeBox B208 is supposed to be an upgraded version of the company's EeeBox B206, one of the latest Eee nettop systems to have been released by the Taiwanese company, and which is based on the 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor and the ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics solution. The new EeeBox B208 offers a slight improvement over the B206, with a dual-core processor and a next-generation ATI graphics chip.

Aside from the aforementioned specs, the B208 is said to weigh just 1kg and offer support for a wide range of video formats, which enables the system to be used as an HTPC. Unfortunately we have no details on pricing or release date.
