While many tablets have been revealed, especially with Android 3.0 loaded onto them, many of them are still not for sale yet, something that goes for a certain ASUS model, though this might finally change soon.

At first glance, one might say that the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is not much different from all the other media slates unveiled over the past few months.

After all, it is a 10-inch model (display resolution is 1,280 x 800 pixels) powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip), has 512MB or 1 GB RAM and varying NAND Flash storage amounts.

It also has a pair of webcams, one on the front and one at the back, plus a SD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and mini HDMI.

Verily, so far nothing is that unusual, but there is one thing that ASUS did do, namely make it possible to connect a detachable keyboard to it, hence the name.

The product was actually unveiled as far back as CES 2011 and we even covered it when it was introduced.

The concept has since been revised and it looks like two versions are left for when the formal announcement actually get done.

Engadget now reports that availability is slated for April 26, Tuesday, third day of Easter, and that there will be one with 16 GB of storage and one with 32 GB.

The 16 GB one will sell for as much as originally intended, $399 that is, although the docking station that adds a keyboard and turns it into a sort of laptop will demand another $150.

As for the 32 GB version, the base price is of $499, leading to $649 for the whole package. What remains is to see how it fares against the likes of the T-Mobile G-Slate although, true enough, that one is a bit more expensive.
