900AX revealed by the FCC

Besides supposedly boasting that it had developed a dynamic overclocking technology better than AMD's own Turbo Core, ASUS is reportedly also making strides on the netbook front, by preparing to unveil a number of new additions to the Eee PC lineup. Apparently, the computer-hardware and PC supplier has been developing one 8.9-inch and two 12-inch mobile PCs, which, for now, have in common, as the most obvious trait, the scarceness of details concerning their specifications.

As it is the case with many mobile PCs of smaller form factors, the Eee PC 900-series netbook known as Eee PC 900AX was revealed by a filing from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). As with alls such filings, there is very little data on the insides of the netbook, though, based on current trends, it can be assumed that it uses the Pine Trail platform. Also, if it ends up running Windows XP, it may turn out to be quite affordable. On the other hand, this 8.9-inch system may turn out to be just a country-specific version of the regular 900.

In addition to just this one, under 10-inch unit, asuswebstorage.com reportedly revealed the existence of two more Eee PCs, known as 1201K Eee PC, and the Eee PC 1201X. The amount of information on these two competes with that on the 900AX in terms of unavailability. Again, it is possible to speculate on what these two may or may not feature, such as a configuration based on Pine Trail. Of course, being 12-inch devices, it is also possible that stronger parts will be used, enabling a more powerful OS, such as Windows 7.

The three newcomers will address the low-cost segment and may or may not be officially revealed, or at least detailed, soon. Still, considering that the FCC has already taken a look, it is quite possible that the specs will surface in the coming weeks, though prices and availability may remain a mystery even after that.
