Eager to make an addition to the already large number of energy efficient LCDs, ASUS brought forth no less than six new displays as part of the VE line of monitors, all of which are alike in several ways, including their use of LED backlights.

Since LED have more or less become the norm on the display front, it was not entirely surprising to hear that ASUS completed a line of monitors equipped with this technology.

The six new monitors that it reportedly brought forth are the VE208D and VE208N (20 inches in diagonal), VE228H and VE228T (21.5 inches), the VE247H (23.6 inches) and VE248H (24 inches).

The VE208D can be seen as the least mighty, with a native resolution of 1,600 x 900 pixels, a response time of 5ms and a brightness of 250 cd/m2. It also has a D-sub port.

The VE208N supports Full HD (has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and has the same response time as brightness as its sibling, plus D-Sub and DVI connectors.

Thirdly, the VE228H shares the same resolution, response time and brightness with the one above, but also has an HDMI input besides D-Sub and DVI. The other extra asset is the pair of 1W speakers.

VE228T is more or less the same as VE228H, only it lacks an HDMI port.

The VE247H finally leaves the norm, in a way, by featuring a brightness of 300 cd/'m2 instead of 250, and its response time is of 2ms instead of 5ms. It also has all three video ports.

Finally, the VE248H has a response time of 2ms, a brightness of 250 cd/m2 and otherwise the same specs as the VE247H.

Other specifications that all six have in common is a dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of 10,000,000:1 and the Splendid image enhancing technology.

As for pricing, the VE247H and VE248H sell for 239 Euro and 249 Euro, respectively, while the others go for 129 Euro (VE208D), 139 Euro (VE208N), 189 Euro (VE228H) and 178 Euro (VE228T).
