The more affordable alternative to a Lamborghini

Although most people wouldn't even dream of owning a Lamborghini super car, ASUS believes it can deliver some of the performance and style of the Lamborghini name in the form of a high-end portable computer system. Showcased at this year's CeBIT show in Hanover, Germany, the 16-inch VX5 laptop comes with a series of high-end hardware components that are meant to provide users with the ultimate in computing performance.

The Taiwanese computer maker has packed the notebook with enough raw power to match the popularity of the car, which is a sure thing. First of all, there is an Intel Core 2 Quad processor that powers up the mobile PC, while providing it with high performance, just as the V12 engine does to the four-wheel, carbon-fiber counterpart. The processor has been installed on an Intel PM45 + ICH9M chipset.

The VX5 also includes the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M graphics solution, and it is able to provide users with a full HD 16-inch display. Also included in the notebook is support for up to 4GB of memory, not to mention the 1TB of storage space. To make things even more interesting, as if the large amount of storage weren't strange enough for a mobile PC, ASUS included in the notebook a flash-based SSD, making it even more amazing, while also bringing a world's first.

Other specifications of the mobile PC include a BD combo, as well as a built-in 2.0-megapixel camera. The ASUS Lamborghini VX5 measures 394 x 274 x 48 mm while weighing only 3.3kg when packed with a 6-cell battery, far less than the car, we must admit. For what it's worth, it is nice to be able to see both the mobile machine and the four-wheel vehicle side by side in Germany.
