The Eee Monitor is said to be a competitor for Apple's iMac

As we already told you before, ASUSTek is planning to roll out a competitor for Apple's iMac system. But that does not mean that ASUS fans should expect the new product to provide the same performance as Apple's current desktop systems, as the former is to be part of the Eee family, which the Taiwanese manufacturer intends to extend with a couple of new products. ASUS' iMac rival will go by the dubbing Eee Monior, and will obviously come as a computer system in a monitor.

But, as we said above, the new system will outsmart Apple's iMac only in terms of price, because it isn't meant to provide the same computing power as the Macs are capable of. So far, the Taiwanese manufacturer hasn't released any hardware details on the matter, and the only thing that can be said is that we are probably going to see one of these Eee Monitors sometime in September. And, because it is part of the Eee brand (which is almost synonymous with low cost), the Eee Monitor will most probably be marketed as a low-cost all-in-one desktop alternative to Apples's iMac - but this is yet to be confirmed.

Another Eee member that ASUS has already displayed at this year's Computex show is the Eee Box, which could be considered a low-cost competitor for Apple's mini-desktop PC, the iMac Mini. As most of you already know, this was the first product part of the Eee family that got people talking about competition with Apple's Macs. Regardless of that, ASUSTek marketed the product as being suited for wireless internet surfing, somehow ignoring the fact that the Eee Box can potentially turn into a set-top box or an Apple-TV like device. Even more, were we to consider that the Eee Box will sell for prices between $200 and $300, depending on configuration, ASUS' solution might just be considered a viable alternative to Apple's $600 iMac Mini.

And ASUS did not stop here at this year's Computex show: another product displayed was the Eee Stick. This device looks pretty much like a Wii remote controller, and has been marketed by the company as a wireless PC gaming controller for its Eee products. The Nunchuck-like controllers work pretty much like Nintendo's Wii solution, but the left one is said to be able to function as a 3D mouse as well.

There is no telling what ASUS plans to do with its Eee brand, but one thing is for certain so far: the Eee family will get new members in the near future.
