Asustek Computer, the worldwide leading provider of innovative solutions, has announced plans to debut its nature-friendly laptop PC which features a casing made of bamboo on Saturday at Taiwan's IT Month exhibition.

The environment friendly laptop was presented last year for the first time, and it comes as a part of ASUS' efforts to use renewable materials in its products. The case of the mobile machine is made out of real bamboo, which, courtesy of the fact that it is growing fast, is used widely through Asia in furniture, as well as construction scaffolding and in artworks.

On Thursday, the company displayed the first bamboo laptop which is said to be ready to hit the market. The mobile machine comes as a part of the ASUS U6V series of notebook PCs. The Bamboo laptop features a 12.1-inch screen, Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor, and runs on Microsoft's Windows Vista OS.

According to the latest news, the company plans to sell the machines at the Taipei IT show for $1,802 (NT$59,900) each. The machines will be launched in U.S. and Europe at a later date, but, according to an ASUS representative, the exact date hasn't been established yet.

The company also announced that its eco-friendly machine includes a series of features meant to offer both increased performance and extended battery life. Back in August, when ASUS officially unveiled the notebook, the machine was said to offer 70 percent improved battery life, delivering performance gains up to 23 percent.

IT Month in Taiwan is a show that allows companies to display their products, while usually ending with bargains on IT gear for consumers. There are four major cities that host the exhibition, including Taipei. The show will take place at World Trade Center from Nov. 29 to Dec. 7.
