If robotry is a religion, then ASIMO is definitely Jesus! Considered the most advanced humanoid robot on the market, the bot is now giving its helping hand to make vehicles safer. But hey, after twenty-years of technology, the robot can see, hear and even dance, not to mention the media treats it like a real superstar.

As you probably know, Asimo, a.k.a Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, is currently engaged in a worldwide tour. These days, the robot will be visiting Australia, staying in Brisbane until December 9. During its stay, the robot will be given the chance to meet its fans an prove its cool attitude once again. After all, he was the first robot ever to go to Disneyland and shake hands with Mickey!

Brisbantimes.com quotes Hongsiri Suesattabongkot, a Honda engineer and former robotics student at the University of NSWHonda, as saying that the giant company behind Asimo has recently equipped the cute robot with a brand new technology pattern that allows it to prevent vehicles from swerving. Besides that, "the mechanical midget" as they like to call it has also been made responsible for a new technology that warns drivers about impending collisions.

The "collision mitigation brake system" is already available in cars in Japan and alerts drivers of dangers by beeping. If the danger increases or drivers ignore the subtle audible cue, the car tightens the seatbelt and, ultimately, applies the brakes", Marian Dekker of Honda Australia, added.

Furthermore, the Japanese Asimo was recently seen performing tasks at a reception desk, where the bot greeted visitors, guided tourists and informed the staff about certain events. Which makes me wonder...what if manly ASIMO gets dangerous? Will he sit on a bloody throne reflecting on humanity and how they've enslaved it?
