The Taiwanese hardware manufacturer AOpen plans to launch a new version of a small desktop PC that significantly resembles to Apple's Mac Mini. The difference is that it uses Microsoft's Windows OS and it will use Intel's latest dual core CPUs (Central Processing Unit) for mobile devices.

AOpen will show off the first Viiv PC at CES (Consumers Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, USA in January. Viiv PCs are supposed to use Intel's Pentium and Yonah notebook processors.

Preliminary specification say that the new AOpen PC will be around 1.3 kg, a little heavier than its predecessor. The new mini PC with the dual core processor should offer the same power efficiency as the older version that was running at ~35 watts.

The design will be aimed for use at home as an entertainment PC, and will have also connections to digital or conventional TV sets. Also, it will have a big storage space for holding movies and music.

Because Intel gave manufacturers only a price range for the Yonah processors, AOpen doesn't know what will be the price tag for the new mini PC. But it was stated that the dual core processor will be expensive.
