AOpen has recently launched a new computer system that comes to provide users with an alternative for the HTPC market. The system, dubbed XC Encore OE700, is meant to combine some of the latest hardware solutions on the market with a unique and simple exterior design that could easily be integrated into a home multimedia system. The new AOpen barebone offers support for Intel's Core 2 Duo CPUs and comes with a power supply that is rated at only 125W.

As far as technical specifications go, the new AOpen XC Encore OE700 HTPC barebone PC is designed on Intel's GM45 desktop platform, enabling support for some of the latest Core 2 Duo processors and DDR2 memory. The system's graphics are handled by the integrated GMA X4500, offering support for DVI and HDMI outputs. Up to 4GB of DDR2 memory can be installed on the system, enabling users to deal with a high level of performance, no matter what operating system they will use.

Unfortunately, there are no details regarding the storage capacity of the new AOpen system, but you will be able to install at least one 3.5-inch hard drive of your own choosing, given the available three SATA ports. Additional features include 7.1-channel audio, Gigabit Ethernet and slot-in DVD writer. The entire system is encased inside a chassis that measures 10.6 (H) x 20 (W) x 32.1 (D) and offers an elegant exterior design. The company did not reveal any specific details regarding the pricing or availability of its new OE700 barebone HTPC.

The market for small-sized computer systems that can handle digital entertainment content has grown significantly over the past months. One of the main reasons for that is the growing success of the new low-power processors on the market, including Intel's Atom processor and VIA's Nano CPUs.
