Version 8.0.2

AOL has launched an updated version of its Netscape browser, which addresses the XML problem in Internet Explorer Dave Massy, program manager on the IE team, warned in blog that installing Netscape on a computer causes the incorrect display of extensible markup language pages, such as RSS feeds.

It seems that Internet Explorer and Netscape don't get along (I bet you didn't know that), Microsoft's browser displaying empty pages instead of XML ones.

When it launched Netscape 8, AOL found itself in the embarrassing situation of having to release a security update related to some old Mozilla flaws. After a few days, Dave Massy announced the Netscape's XML incompatibility with Internet Explorer. In both cases, AOL developers have blamed some communication problems with Mozilla's and Microsoft's representatives.

We are not saying they're wrong, but considering the competition on the browser market, perhaps it would have been wiser for AOL to better test its browser.

AOL states that aside from the XML problem, the 8.0.2 version also improves the overall performances and fixes some flaws that caused the application to crash. However, it seems that AOL has once again failed to do its job, some users complaining on Netscape's forum that although they have installed the update, the browser continues to crash.
