With AIM Mail

Do you want another 2 GB e-mail account? Another than Google's Gmail ?! Yes, AOL has launched today its new AIM Mail, which is actually a part of the new instant AIM messaging client, AIM 5.9.

All you have to do it is visit www.aim.com and enter your AIM id and password or create an identity, if you don't have one.

After you introduced your id and password, you will be prompted to verify their basic information, after which a [email protected] address will be assigned. Those wanting to access their AIM Mail later can do so by directly visiting the website or one-clicking the email link in the AIM 5.9 software.

"We are very excited to invite AIM users to activate their AIM Mail accounts, which are ready and available today," added Chamath Palihapitiya, vice president and general manager for AIM and ICQ, America Online, Inc. "We are also thanking our users for making their AIM Screen Name a core part of their identity by giving them the chance to win really cool prizes simply by activating their AIM Mail."

Beside 2 GB space for e-mail storage, AOL has promised free antivirus and antispaming tools for e-mail meesages and new features for AIM 5.9 which has now an expanded buddy list feature that can now accommodate up to 400 buddies and store more contact information on each one.

For its paying members, AOL has promised unlimited email storage.
