After the company recently launched its Italian portal, AOL continues its expansion in Europe and rolls out the Spanish version of the website which offers the same functions as the main page. The company already announced that AOL wants to evolve into the European market, aiming to release no less than 14 versions of its portal in about 18 months. AOL Spain will come with several useful utilities such as email, instant messaging, video sharing services, news and other products which are included into the AOL offering.

"We're very pleased to be launching AOL.es. Spain is a rapidly growing online market, with high broadband penetration and huge opportunities for online advertising. Launching a dedicated portal here will help us compete for both users and advertisers. AOL has the heritage, the infrastructure and the scale to offer Spain a strong local portal that meets the needs of online users," Dana Dunne, Chief Executive Officer of AOL Europe, said today.

Europe is becoming an attractive market for many of the Internet giants as more and more companies are aiming to expand their offerings into this industry. Some time ago, the Chinese leader portal Baidu announced its plans to evolve into Europe because the company wants to look for new consumers around the globe. In case you didn't know, AOL is described as the Chinese Google because it offers almost the same technologies as the Mountain View company and it always managed to reject the Google expansion attempts in China. However, the super giant is rarely doing massive moves to increase its presence in Europe, even if many of the countries are able to use a local version of the search engine.

"AOL is already successful in Europe, and the launch of this new portal underlines our commitment to the continent. We understand the needs of the local markets and are building on our heritage to create local language portals that are appealing to consumers and advertisers alike," the AOL official added.
