If you like flashing ROMs and fiddling with your Android device, you should know that the well-known Android Open Kang Project (AOKP) is officially rolling out nightly builds Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROMs to Nexus tablets.

Not all Nexus slate owners will be able to take advantage of the new ROMS, with only the Nexus 7 (2013 edition) and Nexus 10 tablets being compatible, but AOKP developers are working hard to port the ROM to other devices as well.

However, be warned that these are nightly builds and you might stumble upon some bugs. The AOKP team advises users to perform a full wipe before jumping in, head-on, even if they had a previous AOKP version on your tablet.

Also, don’t forget to perform a Nadroid back up before flashing the new nightly, just to be on the safe side of things in case something goes wrong.

AOKP is the latest major ROM to update to KitKat, after CyanogenMod and OMNI have done so, not so long ago.
