AMD's Radeon HD 6000 graphics card family is set to gain three additional members on April 19, the Radeon HD 6670, HD 6570 and HD 6450 models, which were previously available only in the OEM channel, according to a recent report which quotes sources from graphics card makers.

Of the three, the Radeon HD 6450 already had a soft launch at the end of last week, but, this time, the card is also expected to reach the shelves of retail stores.

Compared to the OEM version of the graphics cards, the HD 6450, HD 6570 and HD 6670 will only be available with GDDR5 memory which should definitely make them a great deal faster than their OEM counterparts.

Otherwise these are basically the same cards and are based on AMD's Turks and Caicos cores.

Of the two, Caicos is the slower version and it's used to power the HD 6450 which features 160 Steam processors, 8 texturing units, 16 Z/Stencil ROP units and 4 color ROP units.

The clock speed of the GPU is set at 750MHz and the 512MB of video buffer, which is connected to the core via a 64-bit wide memory bus, works at 900MHz (3.6GHz data rate).

In comparison, Turks packs 480 stream processing units, 24 texturing units, 32 Z/Stencil ROP units, 8 color ROP units, as well as a 128-bit memory interface which can be connected to 512MB or 1GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1000MHz (4GHz data rate).

The clock speeds of the GPU is set at 800MHz for the Radeon HD 6670, while its smaller brother, the HD 6570, works at 650MHz.

Just as all the other retail Radeon HD 600-series GPUs, Turks and Caicos feature the UVD 3 media engine that brings 3D playback support as well as other improvements over its predecessor.

No details about pricing were mentioned by DigiTimes, but we do know that AMD's recommended pricing for the HD 6450 is listed at $55.
