AMD focuses more on gaming with this tablet prototype

Back in November, I brought you news that AMD has reportedly started working on a tablet of its own, dubbed Project Discovery. The slate has been designed as a game platform and can be coupled with several peripherals like a game controller.

As I told you then, the tablet was headed for the CES 2014 and since the event is under way, here it is. The tablet will bundle AMD’s next-gen Mullins APU, a low power chip capable of consuming only 2 watts of energy when users are working on the tablet.

This experimental concept comes equipped with a DockPort, so you can expand in different ways, says Engadget. Thus, you can even connect an old-school keyboard and mouse and type in a quick report. When you want to have a little time for yourself, attach the gaming cradle and you can be on your way playing FIFA.

As I said above, this isn’t a complete project yet, Project Discovery is rather AMD’s way of showing its visions for the future to the world. That being said, I have no idea when this experimental device might be headed for production. Not anytime soon, anyway.
