Some months ago, AMD unveiled its lineup of Kaveri accelerated processing units, but the laptop-optimized ones were not pushed out into the wild back then.

But as we reported yesterday, present at the Computex trade-show in Taiwan, AMD took the opportunity to launch its latest series of new AMD Pro A-Series APUs that are to be implemented in notebooks.

The company claims that new chips will deliver bumped up performance, as well as sleekness and sophistication to the commercial end-product.

It appears the new APUs have been created to meet the needs of business professionals, capable of leveraging true business computing performance and deliver outstanding reliability and manageability.

Corporate VP and General Manager of Client Products for AMD, Bernd Lienhard, commented on the launch.

“With the new AMD PRO A-Series APUs, AMD is looking to revolutionize commercial computing. Built around a solid offering of increased performance over our consumer products, increased product longevity and software image stability, AMD PRO processors give customers choice and affordability to meet their specific business needs.”

“And since every AMD PRO processor packs the latest Radeon Graphics, we are raising the bar for visual performance in business PCs.”

AMD has created the new architecture taking into account the new challenges the IT department usually faces when setting new business computers up as part of a network.

Enhance security feats and protection of sensitive data was at the forefront of AMD’s list when designing the blueprints for the new chips.

AMD claims commercial enterprises can count on the new products delivering long-terms value, including a 24-month life-cycle, 18-month image stability and manageability.

The new chips have now been equipped with HSA technology, which will help optimize overall performance, accelerate system tasks and bump up overall application performance.

The new APUs will blend high-performance serial and parallel processing cores in order to stretch the bar in the visual computing, security and performance-per-watt departments.

AMD also notes the PRO A-Series APUs are already available via online third part re-sellers. But the first actual products to be taking advantage of the new chip architecture are part of the HP Elite 700 series.

HP is tempting customers with products that bundle either Intel or AMD architecture and the models taking advantage of the latter include the EliteBook 725 G2, HP EliteBook 745 G2 and HP EliteBook 755 G2.

Under the hood of these models lies a selection between AMD PRO-705B dual-core chip, AMD PRO A8-715B quad-core processors or AMD Pro A10-7350B quad-core chip, all fitted with AMD Radeon Graphics.

Prices for the new HP laptops start at $749 / €543.
