At Computex 2005

AMD is not satisfied anymore with their Athlon 64 X2 outperforming Intel Pentium D in all the tests published on the Internet and in IT magazines.

Now, through the voice of Henri Richard, senior vice president for worldwide sales and marketing, AMD wants to take Intel down using the very concept of dual-core.

According to Digitimes.com, Henri Richard said at Computex 2005 that "Intel's dual-core platform consists of two separate cores in individual dies packaged together using multi-chip packaging in a single chip, which is not a true dual-core solution", in his opinion, a true dual-core processor being the one that "integrates two cores onto the same die"

Commenting on the rumors about AMD's intention to get involved in the production of chipsets, Richard denied all information, lambasting Intel for shipping their products (CPU, chipset and LAN) with a single platform.

In Richard's opinion, AMD gets along perfectly with chipset producers and there's no point in getting involved in this business.

But Intel has high hopes for Pentium D, the company aiming to sell 1 million units by the end of this year.
