It should elaborate on something we learned a few days ago

There will be an important press announcement on October 29, 2012 but, in true corporate fashion, AMD did not say what it would entail.

Given recent events, however, we have strong reason to believe the Sunnyvale, California-based company will explain its new strategy.

Previously, it said that the emphasis on PCs would drop and the focus on microservers, embedded applications and ultra-low power applications would rise.

Chief Executive Officer Rory Read, and Senior Vice President and General Manager Global Business Units Lisa Su, will speak more on this and probably other matters.

We'll be sure to report on the key points, whatever they are. Besides corporate reorganization (layoffs included), the 125 Windows 8 devices running an APU should get at least a few mentions during the entire event.
