Most probably based on the AMD Brazos 2.0 platform

AMD seems to be interested to start a new battle with Intel on the ultra-thin notebook front as a report has unveiled that the chips maker is planning to introduce its own alternative to Intel’s Ultrabook concept.

This is supposed to arrive as soon as January of 2012, says The Australian.

AMD has told the publication that they had held discussions with a number of manufacturers about ultra-thins and one of them was “particularly advanced.”

AMD refrained itself for providing any info about the specs of this device, but with the Deccan platform now cancelled this will most probably be based on Brazos 2.0.

While not as revolutionary as Deccan, the second version of Brazos still features some pretty nice specs as it comes with an updated Zacate APU and a Radeon HD 7000-series built-in GPU (although this is just a rebranded HD 6000 core).

If the report is indeed true, we expect the ultra-thin to be demoed during CES 2012.
