Two reference cards and a custom model are on their way

The Radeon HD 7950 graphics card from Advanced Micro Devices has yet to be made official, but listings are cropping up online already.

It has just been discovered that the second video board in AMD's Radeon DH 7900 line is just about ready to start shipping in Europe.

That means that there won't be any delays in availability after the Sunnyvale, California-based company formally launches it on January 31, 2012.

This discovery comes quite soon after the listings in the United States became public knowledge.

Still, compared to the US, where only one board was spotted so far, Europe has multiple versions waiting to be given the green light.

Given the multitude of nations on the continent, that is not so surprising.

That said, there seem to be two stock-clocked boards, as well as a Radeon DH 7950 with higher performance, courtesy of Gigabyte.

Speaking of manufacturers, one of the 'regular' models bears the XFX logo, while the other only has the AMD brand strapped on it.

For those who want specifics, the stock models have a GPU clock speed of 800 MHz, while the Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 works at 900 MHz.

All of them use 3GB of GDDR5 VRAM (the frequency is of 5,000 MHz) and share most other specifications as well, including the connectivity: CrossFireX support, two mini DisplayPort outputs, one HDMI connector and one DVI port.

The AMD-branded card sells for £435 (519 Euro), while the XFX board is priced at 419 Euro and Gigabyte's model expects to ship for 2053 PLN (Polish Zloty), meaning 483.6 Euro / 635.6 USD.

The tags may seem a bit on the high side, especially to those who know that the 7950 is listed in the US at $481, which, technically, translates into 367 Euro.

Alas, it is an unfortunate fact of life that, due to shipping taxes or whatnot, the US/European prices seldom reflect exchange rates, if ever.
