14 DAY TRIAL // AMD business-class processors series just got a new addition thanks to the Phenom II X2 B59 which was just spotted inside the Compaq Pro 6005 desktop PC, the new chip featuring a dual-core design as well as a 3.4GHz operating frequency.
The CPU is available as an option in the small form factor and microtower versions of the HP Compaq Pro 6005 computer for an additional $79 US.
Although the order page available on HP's website doesn't mention any details regarding its specifications, the processor has been spotted on the Taobao auction website, revealing some of its basic features.
According to the seller posting it online, the AMD Phenom II X2 B59 runs at 3.4GHz, has 1MB of Level 2 and 6 MB of L3 cache, and support AMD64 and the SSE3 instruction set, as well as the AMD-V virtualization technology.
Judging by these specs, the X2 B59 looks like a close relative of the Phenom II X2 565 Black Edition, except for the 200MHz higher HyperTransport link and the locked multiplier.
In addition, one of the two CPU-Z screenshoots uploaded on the Chinese website, lists the new business-class CPU as an “AMD Athlon II X4 559 Processor,” meaning that the CPU packs a total of four processing cores, two of those being locked by the Sunnyvale-based company.
The HP Compaq Pro 6005 desktop PC can be configured with up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM memory, dual storage drives (HDD or SSD), which can also be configured in RAID, various entry-level graphics cards as well as with an optical drive.
The base version of the small form factor desktop is listed at $967.01 and includes an AMD Athlon II X2 B24 CPU. Upgrading the system to feature the Phenom II X2 B59 raises the price to $1,042.01 US. (via CPU-World)
