It appears that a certain maker of GPUs is not the only one that got an award from the Taipei Computer Association, as AMD delivered a press release that celebrates an occasion very much like it.

The Fusion technology from Advanced Micro Devices has turned out to be far from a slouch on the IT market, a fact that has now gained public acknowledgement.

More specifically, the Sunnyvale, California-based CPU and graphics maker saw its invention gaining an award recently.

As one would expect, this outfit made a point of not keeping silent about it, since this is basically one way that a platform can have its high-quality status cemented more thoroughly.

As such, while NVIDIA may have been the first to come out and say the Tegra 2 had received honors, AMD has now revealed that the Taipei Computer Association granted its Fusion processor platform the “2011 Best Choice of Computex TAIPEI Award.”

For those that don't know, this is an award that has been granting acknowledgement in product design and technology innovation since 2002.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award from the Taipei Computer Association, which is a manifestation of our efforts and excellence in AMD Fusion APUs,” said Andy Tseng, AMD corporate vice president and Taiwan general manager.

“AMD Fusion APUs are already widely recognized within the industry for being creative and innovative. This award proves the importance of listening to our customers and designing breakthrough products around their needs.”

For those that want a reminder, Fusion is the technology responsible for the existence of AMD accelerated processing units (APUs), which are, basically, CPUs (central processing units) with integrated DirectX 11 graphics.

What remains is to see what products end up being put on display at the Best Choice Award Pavilion by Taipei Computer Association when Computex 2011 starts for real.
