The chip lags just a bit behind the A10-6800K, AMD's best APU to date

Surprisingly enough, Advanced Micro Devices isn't clamoring and trumpeting the arrival of every chip in its collection. That doesn't mean the new processors aren't impressive though, as the A10-6790K has just shown.

Just a bit behind the performance of the top-tier A10-6800K, it is a quad-core unit with on-chip Radeon HD 8670D graphics.

The base clock is of 4 GHz, while the Turbo Core setting is of 4.3 GHz. That's 100 MHz behind the A10-6800K, in both cases.

The other difference is the support for 1866 MHz memory (A10-6800K handles DDR3-2133).

The rest of the specs are the same though: 100W TDP, GPU speed of 844 MHz, 4 MB L2 cache. It's all a package deal for high-end Piledriver.

The price should be of around $130 / €130, just like for the A10-5700 and A10-5800K. Pre-orders may have already started in certain regions.
