Leasing is a process that allows certain people and companies to make money off selling a property while continuing to be allowed to use said property as before. That's what AMD has done with its Singapore subsidiary.

More to the point, AMD has completed the transaction to sell and lease-back its Singapore facility to HSBC Institutional Trust Services (Singapore) Limited.

Said facility is located at 508 Chai Chee Lane, Singapore 469032.

Essentially, this earned AMD $46 million / €34 million without preventing the company from continuing to use the subsidiary, or at least some of it.

This move is part of AMD's strategy to reduce investment in non-essential business branches, although that shouldn't be taken to mean that the facility is a minor asset. It's an engineering center of excellence that currently employs approximately 500 people after all.
