In its war against Intel, AMD has just scored a major victory. Thus, today, AMD has launched a dual-core version of its AMD Athlon 64 3800+ processor and has also announced some price cuts.

As a part of its ongoing attempt to win the battle of dual-core processors, AMD has launched the new AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2, which costs $354, only about $25 more than its single-core version and a little less expensive than the fastest single-core processor from AMD, the AMD Athlon 64 4000+.

The price of AMD Athlon 64 4000+ has also been affected, being reduced with 22%, and the processor is now available at just $375.

There have been some other dual-core processors affected by these price cuts as well, and thus, the price of the most expensive dual-core model from AMD, the 4800+ X2, has dropped from $1001 to $902.

AMD has also announced price cuts for some of its Opteron processors. The new dual-core Opteron 865 HE and 860 HE processors are now available at around $2,649 and $2,149 respectively.

The processors for the mobile sector were not forgotten, and thus the prices of the Turion 64-bit models have also decreased. The price of ML-40 has been reduced with 32%, to $354, while the ML-37 is now available at just $263, 25% less than its previous price.
