We've talked earlier about some of the new features that will be enabled by AMD's brand-new Catalyst Control Center, but it's now time to tackle a much more serious topic, namely that of the level of stability delivered by AMD's graphics cards drivers, that, according to the “red team”, is clearly superior to the one provided by the GeForce drivers.

So, as AMD informs us, a third party group, Perseus Labs, conducted stability testing with Microsoft Windows Logo Kit (WLK) Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) to compare AMD graphics hardware stability versus that of competitors (namely, NVIDIA, of course).

Using a variety of drivers and configurations, the tests determined driver stability under extreme conditions, only AMD hardware and driver software managing to pass 100% of test runs successfully without any system crashes or failures.

What's also quite interesting (in fact, a whole lot more interesting than AMD's stability claims) is the fact that the company also provides a comparative chart, going head to head with their Arch-rivals from NVIDIA in terms of driver stability.

Of course, these are some pretty bold claims, and we're pretty sure that NVIDIA will have quite a few things to say about this whole testing procedure and results, especially since specific details regarding the testing procedures have not been yet provided.

Also, despite of the fact that the comparative photo seems to point out a huge difference in terms of stability between NVIDIA drivers and AMD Catalyst drivers, the truth of the matter is that the range is pretty small (just around 15 percent), which leaves a bit of room for speculation from the “green team”.

In any case, leaving aside the competition between the two graphics cards manufacturers, it's very important to see that AMD's very serious about developing good-quality, stable drivers for their GPUs, a stance that's been fairly different in the past, at least as far as ATI was concerned (ATI's drivers being notoriously buggy).
