It's quite an usual habit for some of the largest players in the computer industry to come up with all sorts of interesting, viral promo videos for their various products, but the latest one released by AMD in order to promote their Fusion APU really manages to take the cake, as it stars (albeit briefly) none other than the company's own CEO, Dirk Meyer.

The video is actually quite a funny one, depicting a story of corporate espionage (that's why AMD calls it “The AMD Fusion Era Has Begun - A Corporate Thriller”) that sort of underlines the features and benefits of the Fusion APU platform, while doing a bit of dissing at the expense of AMD's competitors (who, however, are not directly named within the short flick).

However, that's just about all we're willing to tell you for the time being, and if you want to check out the whole story, including the brief appearance by Mr. Meyer, you can go directly to the end of the article, where we've embedded the “Corporate Thriller” video.

As some of you might know, Dirk Meyer is president and chief executive officer of AMD and also serves on the company’s Board of Directors.

Prior to being named CEO in 2008, Meyer served as AMD’s president and chief operating officer from 2006 through 2008, and, from 2001 to 2006, Meyer led the company’s microprocessor business, overseeing related R&D, manufacturing, operations and marketing.

His leadership during these five years resulted in a doubling of revenue for the microprocessor business and a substantial expansion of AMD’s global profile.

Of course, what everyone expects right now is for the AMD Fusion platform to actually delivers on all of these promises, but we guess that only time (and benchmarks/user reviews) will tell whether that's the case or not.
