Advanced Micro Devices just announced that it, in collaboration with the graphics cards manufacturing company Sapphire Technology, they will supply much of the hardware needed by the World Cyber Games, WCG for short, and the two companies will also host a demonstration of the next generation technologies that are now under development.

According to an Advanced Micro Devices press release concerning this event, Sapphire's graphics card based on the ATI Radeon 2600 X2 Dual graphics processing unit delivers a very high level of performance in the latest DirectX 10 enabled games, while being able to also provide a fully fledged Microsoft Windows Vista experience. The multi graphics processing unit card is coming with two integrated Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics processors on a single printed circuit board that is PCI Express compatible.

The Sapphire made graphics card can drive a maximum of four DVI displays or a single display that is backed up by a CrossFire setup. Using the CrossFire setup, users will achieve better performance levels as they will be better positioned to make the most of the 1GB of dedicated video memory that is integrated into every card and which runs at a clock frequency of 800MHz.

''As official suppliers for the WCG 2007, AMD is collaborating with SAPPHIRE to present a world-class gaming platform experience for competitive and casual gamers,'' said Godfrey Cheng, director of platform marketing and gaming, AMD Graphics Products Group. ''The World Cyber Games is the pinnacle of competitive PC gaming and a perfect venue to demonstrate how ATI Radeon HD 2000 series graphics with CrossFire push the boundaries of visual realism.''

This event that is supplied with most of its hardware by AMD and Sapphire is the first gaming festival in the world and it is aimed at bringing together the different communities of gamers around the world. This year at the Grand Final, more than 700 gamers from 70 countries will participate and all their graphic needs will be taken care of thanks to the Sapphire HD 2600 X2 Dual graphics cards...

"The WCG tournament has evolved into one of the most celebrated gaming festivals in the world", said Hyoung Seok Kim, CEO of International Cyber Marketing, WCG. "With industry-leading DirectX 10 graphics processors such as the SAPPHIRE HD 2600 XT, finalists are given the opportunity to compete at a high level on a world stage. We are pleased to have AMD and Sapphire among the great technology partners that support the rapidly expanding e-Sports entertainment culture."
