AMD promote as quick as they terminate - Phil Rogers and Hector Ruiz know why.

AMD has just made public the promotion of Phil Rogers to AMD Corporate Fellow. Rogers has joined the AMD team after they have acquired ATI, back in 2006. Rogers has served ATI for more than 12 years and during his career, he had a key position in the development of DirectX? and OpenGL? driver software.

Already named Corporate Fellow, the highest hierarchical level of value recognition, Rogers will continue enhancing graphics processing unit and central processing unit interoperability through software and hardware innovations. Also, Rogers will deal with the software platform for the new AMD 'Fusion' initiative, where the CPUs and GPUs are merged in order to enhance performance and efficiency in respect to the power consumption.

Phil Rogers was a key element in the evolution of Radeon GPUs since they appeared on the market, back in 2000. Moreover, it was also Rogers whose contribution impacted most over the ATI Radeon HD? 2000 family of graphical processors.

"It's a pleasure to be part of an AMD software team where revolutionary contributions from engineers are encouraged and expected", said Rogers. "This environment inspires me, and others, to build platforms that are more visually rich, increasingly energy efficient and more accessible to the global community."

AMD has built a team of no less than 1,200 professionals to research methods of improving the end-user experience, while software teams work to overcome device drivers issues, as well as to deliver hardware extensions, new instructions, or development tools.

"Software development is a critical tool that AMD uses to create platform-level solutions to enhance our end-user experience," said Ben Bar-Haim, corporate vice president, Software, Graphics Products Group at AMD. "Phil's unique talents are instrumental in accelerating application performance by optimizing the interaction of hardware and software."

AMD offers the Corporate Fellow distinction only to individuals that leave their print over technical innovation or business opportunities.
