Advanced Micro Devices' plan includes the launch of Phenom X4 9850B and Phenom X3 8850B with AM2+ socket in the first half of 2009, two processors that will be followed by brand-new "BXX" Series CPUs in Q3. These processors are all included in the company's business platform lineup. This means that the Phenom II X4 B90, Phenom II X3 B70 and Athlon X2 B20 we are talking about will be equal to the Phenom II X4 900, Phenom II X3 700 and Athlon X2 200 consumer processors.

These new chips will be manufactured under the 45nm S0I technology, will feature AM3 socket and support DDR2 or DDR3 memory. According to the news, Phenom II X4 B90 Series will sport four cores, while their L2/L3 cache capacity will be 8MB. The chips scheduled for launch are said to be the 2.8GHz B93 and 2.6GHz B91, both with 95W TDP.

The launch will also include the X3 B70 series of tri-core CPUs. The processors that will come under the series are the 2.9GHz B73 and 2.7GHz B71, featuring 7.5MB L2/L3 cache and a 65W thermal envelope.

The Sunnyvale-based chip maker is also said to plan upgrading its motherboard platform from AMD 780V to RS880. The RS880 chipset for business platforms will be added into TPM1.2 and DASH Compliant managed LOM functions, and the company will also launch a RS880 for consumer platforms. It seems that the AM3 processor based on 45nm and the motherboard for business platforms will be code-named Kodiak, which is the name of an island in the south of Alaska.

The processor lineup for business platforms includes Phenom X4 9000, Phenom X3 8000 and Athlon X2 5000 chips. These processors have been added the postfix “B” which differentiate them from the consumer parts. As an example, the Phenom X4 9600B is the corresponding model of the Phenom X4 9600 chip.
