14 DAY TRIAL // There’s revealing and then there’s too revealing. Though in previous years, ABC producers sent a list of guidelines to all guests, letting them know what they could and could not wear on the red carpet and at the gala, at least 2 people didn’t get a similar memo this year.
Those would be Frankie Grande and Bleona Qereti, who took “too revealing” to a whole new level last night at the American Music Awards 2014 – and not in a good way.
Frankie, Ariana Grande’s less famous brother, went shirtless
First on the list of fashion offenders was Frankie Grande, who made his red carpet debut. If his name doesn’t ring a bell, it’s OK, you shouldn’t feel guilty about it, because for the time being, Frankie’s biggest claim to fame is being Ariana Grande’s brother.
Frankie also appeared on the latest season of Big Brother, where he put up an act for almost the entire show, and when he did reveal he was rich (or at least richer than the other contestants), he tried to build himself up by basically making it sound as if he were more important and successful than he really was.
Online, with celebrity bloggers, Frankie is not too popular. Whereas his sister Ariana has also been plagued by diva rumors and reports of being the most despicable, entitled and annoying young woman in showbiz, at least she’s talented, so it’s not like she has nothing to show for it.
Frankie, on the other hand, has nothing. Not even a decent fashion sense.
As you can see in the gallery below, he showed up on the red carpet in a painted on shirt and pink bowtie, and he made sure the cameras got a very good look at his muscles, posing from all sides. It was probably chilly inside the Nokia Theater, where the gala was held, because later on, he put on a jacket and buttoned it up.
In one of the photos, he is seen taking selfies with the Jenner girls and Khloe Kardashian. Of course.
Bleona Qereti wears “invisible” dress, has huge fail
We can’t decide if Frankie’s painted-on shirt or Bleona Qereti’s “invisible” dress was the biggest fashion fail of the night. We can show you more than one picture of Bleona’s dress because we can’t really call it that, a dress.
Bleona, an Albanian singer who stars on Bravo’s reality series Euros of Hollywood, took Rose McGowan’s infamous dress at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards, added pasties and pumps instead of strappy sandals, and walked the red carpet like that.
However, whereas McGowan’s moment was outstanding for being unique and even though other female stars have also tried this kind of dress on the red carpet (most recently and notably, Rihanna and Amber Rose), in Bloeona’s case, it just reeked of desperation.
In photos online, she’s turned to her back to the cameras, to offer the best view at her bare back from head to toe.
In fewer of these pics, two assistants are seen to the side, holding a card with her name on it. They’re laughing hysterically – and that says it all: you can do this type of dress as a fashion statement, but not for publicity. The difference is the amount of desperation you’re feeling at the moment you’re putting it on.
