The KDE aKademy is an annual contributor's conference for the K Desktop Environment, which this year will be held in the Department of Computer & Information Sciences at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland.

For more than a week, the event would gather developers and KDE contributors from the entire world and feature interesting talks and presentations as well as coding sessions and workshops. This year, the registration was open but mandatory for those who were interested in attending the event. This Saturday was the opening day and as usual this was the conference day. Even though in the beginning the organizers had some problems with the internet access, as KDE sources state, there has been established a network connection so far and any time now they should be online.

After the conference day, Sunday brought a social event, with lots of food and beer and more talks. Today, the group is said to attend a social event, where they should meet the Lord Provost of Glasgow in the setting of the public chambers. Apart from talking and socializing in different pubs and clubs, the programmers also prepare for an entire week of rough coding, bug-fixing and features development.

According to KDE officials attending the aKademy this year, the arrangements look very nice and people seem to enjoy the T-shirts decorated with Konqi taking the form of the infamous Loch Ness Monster. Also, the traditional 'aKademy bag' was pretty rich this year, taking in, among the KDE-branded coffee mugs, other goodies such as a Mandriva 2 GB bootable USB stick and some live CDs.

The Press Brochure, available for any news organizations covering the annual contributors conference, is now available here.

The brochure will also take in:

- KDE History - KDE 4 - KDE e.V. - aKademy schedule - aKademy sponsors - aKademy support/contact - Recent aKademy/KDE press coverage
