AuthenTec, one of the world's most renowned security-solution providers, has recently announced that the company's new AES1750 smart sensor will be equipped on two Fujitsu devices from NTT DOCOMO. The two phones are the docomo STYLE series F-07B and the waterproof docomo PRIME series F-06B. The AES1750 smart sensor will provide one-touch security and enhanced control to the new handsets, which are already available in Japan. The AES1750 is also the first sensor to be manufactured with the new TouchStone packaging technology, which adds a unique feel and look.

AuthenTec's smart sensor brings important enhancements to touch-capable devices, allowing full navigation or giving users the option to securely lock or unlock their smartphones by swiping their finger across the screen. Designed to minimize the power consumption and offer high performance at the same time, the new sensor incorporates various multiple touch functions and can be fitted in mobile devices, digital cameras, tablet PCs, remote controls or smartbooks.

“We worked very closely with Fujitsu to understand sensor requirements for their newest lifestyle phones -- including size, durability and cosmetic appearance in a central touch control -- and believe that we achieved our mutual goals with the seamless integration of the AES1750 smart sensor in the F-06B and F-07B,” Masatoshi Morishita, AuthenTec vice president and president of AuthenTec KK, Japan, said. “We are honored to support NTT DOCOMO and Fujitsu on the launch of their 21st and 22nd mobile phone models to incorporate AuthenTec’s TruePrint technology, and we look forward to further expanding their leadership in mobile phone innovation through the continued evolution and expansion of our smart sensors and solutions.”

The waterproof docomo PRIME series F-06B sports a 13.2-megapixel, built-in camera capable of shooting full-HD videos and, on top of it all, it can do it underwater. Besides the very capable camera, the smartphone also features a 3.5-inch LCD screen, and supports GSM, GPS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The phone also has an incorporated 3D motion sensor and a very useful map-searching application. Meeting all the IPX5/7/8 requirements, the phone is capable of functioning normally even if submersed at a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Like the F-06B, the 14.8mm-thin F-07B is a horizontally rotating clamshell mobile device featuring a 12.2-megapixel camera, and a 3.3-inch wide VGA display that can also be used in split-screen mode. The device supports about the same functions and applications as its predecessor.
