Earlier this year, in February, Shakira took to her Twitter to tease fans with some exciting news: she and country crooner Blake Shelton, who also acts as judge / mentor on NBC’s The Voice, had recorded a duet.

She didn’t say more about it at the time: she didn’t name the song, nor did she offer an estimated release date. Lucky for her fans, she and Blake premiered the new track at last night’s Academy of Country Music Awards 2014, which took place live in Las Vegas.

It’s called “Medicine,” it is a love song (of course), and it sounds pretty amazing.

Blake, who also hosted the gala, looked dapper in a vest and jeans, while Shakira rocked thigh-high leather boots and a strapless red dress. The two are said to have amazing chemistry on The Voice behind the camera as well, and you can tell this is really the case from this amazing performance.

“Medicine” came about after Shakira reached out to Blake to ask him to do a duet with her: she said she’d been thinking about going country for some time because she wanted people to know there was more to her than her trademark sound. Naturally, Blake was the obvious choice for this..
