While the ACCESS Linux platform has been postponed and is to come out sometime in the first half of this year, ACCESS has announced its decision to rename Palm OS as Garnet OS and has revealed the new ACCESS Powered logo, which is going to be used with products from both ACCESS and PalmSource, replacing the Palm Powered logo.

In October 2006, PalmSource, subsidiary of ACCESS began the process of changing its name to ACCESS. As a part of that process, ACCESS is now renaming all of the products with Palm-based names. Palm OS is the first product to be renamed and will - from now on - be known as Garnet OS.

"ACCESS' technology and software product portfolio cover a wide array of functions from comprehensive mobile platforms to integrated browser-based suite solutions that deliver state-of-the art full-Internet browsing and related services, to individual applications that support specific device and network functions," stated Tomihisa Kamada, ACCESS co-founder and CTO. "The new ACCESS Powered logo provides a way to easily identify those mobile phones and other devices that include software from the entire ACCESS product portfolio."

The new ACCESS powered logo will probably be included in customers' packaging, marketing and sales colateral, tradeshow exhibits and other promotional items.

Customers may include the ACCESS Powered logo on any ACCESS compatible device, on the hardware itself or splash screens.

The appearance of the logo might also mean that ACCESS is pretty close to finally releasing their long awaited ACCESS Linux platform, which will include a Garnet OS compatibility layer known as GHost (Garnet Host).
