Wireless routers seemed to take some time to relax this month, with nothing too extraordinary being released for a while, but the reprieve has passed, so wireless device makers are going full-throttle again.

D-Link is the company that showed up on our radar this time, having created the DIR-880L AC1900 Wi-Fi Router, which, once again, uses both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz wireless bands.

The performance on the former frequency is of 600 Mbps (tops), while the maximum throughput possible on the 5 GHz band is 1,300 Mbps.

This is why the newcomer is rated as an AC1900 Wi-Fi Router, because 1,900 Mbps is the top performance it can achieve. Good news for public places like cafes, where visitors usually want to access the Internet via their laptops, tablets, and phones if at all possible.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup is included, as well as traffic prioritization, secure wireless encryption (WPAA or WPA2), four Gigabit Ethernet ports, and a new user interface that makes management simple.

The D-Link AC1900 Wi-Fi Router (DIR-880L) has a price of $190 / €190 and will be most useful (besides the cafes we’ve already mentioned) in hotels, schools, office buildings, etc. Not that there's anyone stopping you from getting one for use at home. It'll definitely come in handy if you throw a party, if nothing else.
