The other day, Zachary Quinto, best known for his roles on “Star Trek” and “Heroes,” came out in an interview with New York Magazine. While reporting on the interview, an ABC News anchorman outed himself as well, as the video below will show.

Dan Kloeffler from ABC’s World News Now was talking about how “nonchalantly” Quinto dropped the “I am a gay may” line in the NY Mag interview.

He used this context to make a joke about his own orientation and thus, go on the record as being gay as well.

They’re both of about the same age, which means Kloeffler can dream of one day going out on a date with the handsome actor.

For it, he’s even willing to forget that he promised himself he’d never go out with Hollywood stars, he joked.

“I’m thinking I can lose my distraction about dating actors,” he said.

Later on, as word of his coming out spread online very rapidly, the ABC anchorman took to his blog to explain why he’d suddenly decided to speak up.

It’s all about solidarity, he says.

“For the same reason that Zach decided to come out, I too, no longer wanted to hide this part of my life,” the anchorman explains.

Quinto, as we also informed you yesterday, decided to come out after the death of teen Jamey Rodemeyer, who killed himself after becoming victim to online bullying over his orientation.

“There have been too many tragic endings and too many cases of bullying because of intolerance... as a journalist, I don’t want to be the story, but as a gay man I don’t want to stand silent if I can offer some inspiration or encouragement to kids that might be struggling with who they are,” Kloeffler added.
