Do you remember Cut the Rope? That great game with a cute character, Om Nom. Well, Icebreaker is the exact opposite, in some ways. You have kind of the same dynamics for the game, but you have to cut the ice, not a rope and let the characters fall in a boat.

Icebreaker: A viking Voyage is a very nice game. Apple just made it free for a week so you might as well download it now and play it by yourself. The main idea is simple: you play a novice Viking who wants to convince his king that he's worthy. In order to do that, he needs to save some of his fellows trapped in ice. Your job is to slash the ice blocks and let the trapped vikings fall on to your hero's boat.

The puzzles are pretty easy to play in the beginning and only the dialogues are sometimes too much. Other than that, you will be able to move on pretty fast. Solving puzzles and using gravity may prove more difficult after you get to the second level. However, you will have over 140 levels to play in three different lands so be sure to leave your iPad or iPhone aside every once in a while.

You will probably enjoy the scenery of each level and get happy when you defeat the trolls. Every once in a while, you will be asked to buy stuff from the shop and you can either do it with the coins you get from between the ice blocks or with real money. The developers even included a dialogue between the young viking and the shop keeper. One of the lines of the viking goes along something like: "this game was too good to be free." However, the shop keeper will grant the first super power for free.

In-app purchases will cost you anywhere from $0.99 (€0.75) up to $9.99 (€7.57) but you can get the so-called "Finger of the Gods" that can save a trapped fellow viking even when  everything looks lost.

This game gets addictive pretty quick so make sure to play in moderation. Other than that, just enjoy another good game provided by Apple and try to finish all 140 levels until next week when a new "Free App of the Week" will be revealed. It is worth mentioning that Icebreaker has won multiple awards. Among those it was the iOS game of the year in the Pocket Gamer Magazine.
